NBA Basketball Prediction: Memphis vs Minnesota

The Minnesota Timberwolves are believed to be preparing a contract extension offer that would keep Kevin Love in town for the foreseeable future.

They’d be wise to get it done sooner rather than later as the All-Star forward keeps driving up his value on a nightly basis. Love will look to keep his hot play going as the Timberwolves try for a rare three-game winning streak by hosting the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. The 23-year-old Love is fifth in the NBA in scoring (25.4 ppg) and second in rebounding (15.2 rpg) - notching double-doubles in all five games to date. His play has caught the attention of rookie point guard Ricky Rubio.

"I don’t know how he can catch the rebounds, how he can shoot the ball like that," Rubio said. "He’s amazing. He’s one of the best teammates I’ve had, and I love playing with him."

The Timberwolves have opened as 3.5-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NBA Basketball Odds.

Memphis Grizzlies (2-3): While it hasn’t yet been determined how long Zach Randolph will be out with a bruised right knee, the Grizzlies did fine without their big man in a 113-96 win over Sacramento on Tuesday. Point guard Mike Conley returned after missing three games with an ankle injury to score 14 points in the blowout. Marc Gasol is getting it done around the basket, hitting 63 percent of his shots (25 of 40) to rank second in the league.

Minnesota Timberwolves (2-3): Minnesota had lost 18 straight games before beating Dallas on Sunday, following it up with a triumph over San Antonio. The Timberwolves haven’t won more than two straight since taking four in a row from Jan. 29-Feb. 6, 2009. Michael Beasley showed no ill effects in his first game playing with five stitches on his shooting hand, scoring 19 points on 8-of-15 from the floor.

NBA Basketball

1. Love is 9-of-15 on 3-pointers in his past two games after missing eight of 10 from long distance to start the campaign.

2. Randolph is traveling with the Grizzlies and is listed as day-to-day.
